Sharing Zone

Here is my space for linking and sharing to other cool resources that other cool people have made.

Websites

Nicky Case – Makes interactive explainers and games about all kinds of topics such as how to use emotion in learning, the evolution of trust, voting systems, and a game about anxiety where you play as the anxiety. Maybe a lot of that sounds kinda dry, but I promise it’s not, she makes everything really engaging by making little minigames that help you engage with it. She is part of what inspired me to make my own website.

Derin Edala – One of my favourite authors ever. If you want a quick read then pretty much all of their short stories are brilliant, in particular, I recommend How To Escape The Well. If you want something longer than I highly recommend Time To Orbit: Unknown.

Scarleteen – Sex Ed! Let’s face it, most of us get an incredibly lacking sed ed in our formal education. Even if you have been well educated, there’s always more to learn, and this site is queer inclusive! It’s a lovely resource.

English Place Names – An explainer of English Place names.

The Bread And Butter Thing – A charity for getting cheap food across England

Framasoft – A FOSS company that makes alternatives to Google applications and other Big Tech products

Marginalia – A search engine for the small web. find niche and non-commercial content. The stuff Google and the other main search engines would never show you! I like to use it for recipes.

Get Energy Savvy – Good information about energy, made by a good guy who knows what he is talking about (I went to a talk from him about indoor air quality and was very impressed)

Ageless Linux – Rebellion against shitty laws

Sorry I can't hang out I have to itch the
mosquito bite on my ankle until I reach
bone

A tumblr reblog by @the-rain-monster reading:

Get hot water, not boiling hot but almost hotter
than you can stand, and put a metal spoon in
it for a few seconds. Take the spoon and put it
against the mosquito bite for about 30 seconds.
Do it a few times if you like. The proteins that
cause the itching are susceptible to heat and
break down.
