Sketchbook 2: Plants

Note: this is the second sketchbook out of a series of 4, you can see the other sketchbooks here

This Sketchbook is filled with tracing paper, so you can see through several layers. I decided this would look cool with plant forms drawn on each page. So I went out into the garden for a summer evening of sketching plants.

I took some photos of the garden so you can see what I was basing my sketches on:

This is one of those rare times where I had a picture in my head, and then when I made the art it looked exactly how I expected it to. I like the way all the different shapes and colours sit on top of each other. I experimented with different drawing materials, and different approaches such as continuous line drawings or drawing just the silhouette of a plant. I like best the more detailed illustrations, I think they layer up very nicely.
